Classroom Teacher - Grade 2

St. Madeleine Sophie School is seeking a certified, entry level professional to begin his or her career teaming with our veteran partner teacher to oversee instruction in one of our two 2nd grade homerooms. Class size is expected to be approximately 18 students. This is a one-year, trial assignment, September 2010 through June 2011.

The teaching load includes the full spectrum of basic subject matter. We are looking for the successful candidate to possess solid training in math, reading and learning resource skills, complementing our current staff backgrounds. Additional knowledge and talent in the area of instructional technology (especially a familiarity with the Powerschool Student Information System) is a strong plus!

We seek an energetic, active, self-starter who is willing to grow into the role, demonstrating an ability to effectively design and manage a contemporary classroom environment and build strong, positive communications with parents.

Training in current instructional techniques and innovative learning theory, including a working familiarity with the state's Essential Academic Learning Requirements (EALRs), is highly desired. A practicing Catholic candidate with a history in, and familiarity with, private school education, is required. An ability to help contribute to the design of our new school and successfully integrate classroom instruction with our parish faith formation program is essential.
