(#1) Classroom Teacher - Primary Grades (2nd - 3rd)

A once-in-a-lifetime chance to join our innovative team in Year 4 of our quest to create a "new school for new times."

We seek a career minded, certified professional who can demonstrate an ability to effectively design and manage a contemporary classroom environment and build strong, positive communications with parents. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with other staff to create a cohesive program.

Responsible for overseeing the teaching of a primary class, newly added to accommodate our increasing enrollment. Depending upon registration, this assignment will work with students in Grades 2 and 3, either in traditional age groupings or in a combination setting. The new position will work closely with other staff in the Primary and Intermediate departments to address the needs of learners in a "blended" format.

The first year enrollment in this homeroom could be smaller than our target size of 24 students and the teaching load will include the full spectrum of basic subject matter. At the same time, we are looking at this position to bring solid experience or training in math, reading and/or learning resource skills into the mix and complement our current staff backgrounds. As we add additional classes in subsequent years, the incumbent will be considered for newly created responsibilities.

Training in current instructional techniques, innovative technology and learning theory - including a working familiarity with the state's Essential Academic Learning Requirements (EALRs) - along with strong writing skills and a desire to grow professionally is highly desired. A practicing Catholic candidate with a strong background in private school education, able to help design our new school and successfully articulate it with the parish faith formation program is preferred. Bilingual proficiency will be favorably considered.

(#2) Classroom Teacher - Kindergarten

A once-in-a-lifetime chance to join our innovative team in Year 4 of our quest to create a "new school for new times."

Responsible for overseeing the teaching of a second all-day Kindergarten class, newly added to accommodate our increasing enrollment. The new position will work in tandem with our current Kindergarten teacher to craft a duplicate offering and with other staff in the Primary department to address the needs of learners in a "blended" format.

The enrollment in this homeroom will be smaller than our target size of 24 students and the teaching load will include the full spectrum of basic subject matter. At the same time, we are looking at this position to bring solid early learning skills into the mix and complement our current staff backgrounds. The 2008-09 Kindergarten assignment is a one-year overload. As we add additional classes in subsequent years, the incumbent will be considered for newly created responsibilities.
